PubPK FAQs
From PubPK
Are the data in PubPK accurate?
Pharmacokinetic data are variable, and are often different from one study to another. The aim of PubPK is to collect published pharmacokinetic data and therefore save time for pharmacokinetic researchers. The accuracy of data, however, is mainly dependent on the in vivo studies and therefore is not guaranteed.
Do I need to be an IT expert to edit a webpage?
Not at all. PubPK pages look and act like normal web pages, except they have an "Edit" link that makes it easy to modify existing pages and add new pages into the website, using basic editing rules.
What is a "wiki"?
A wiki is a web site where users can create new pages, edit existing pages, link between pages, and search the site. It is often used to create collaborative websites and to power community websites. The collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia is one of the best-known wikis.
What user rights do I have?
- Non-registered visitor: read
- Registered user with confirmed email address: read & edit

How do I create a new page?
There are several paths to creating a new page:
- Create a link to the page on another page, then click on the red link which appears
- Search for a compound (in the left panel), if there is no webpage for that compound, you can create a new page for it
How do I cite references when editing a webpage?
Mediawiki, which powered PubPK, does have an extention package to support automatic reference citation. However, it is not so easy to use for normal users. Therefore, PubPK adopted the citation format of Drug Metabolism and Disposition. When a citation is made in the text, the reference(s) needs to be added manually in the References section.
How can I embed images in textual pages?
You can bring in an inline image from an external URL. This can be done simply by sticking the full URL into the wiki text (without any other surrounding markup).
A registered user can upload an image from a file on his/her local computer. In the menu on the left under "toolbox" you will have a link named "Upload file". Click 'Upload file' and then follow the instruction on the screen. A sysop has an additional option of uploading an image directly from a URL.
Before uploading please ensure that you have rights to upload and redistribute the file(s)
